Werk - Working, Furloughed or Temporarily Unemployed

Still working, though I always get the feeling that could change sharpish depending on how long lockdown goes on for. Personally I'd like COVID-19 to fuck off, get some normality back.

I'm on annual leave for a few weeks, sort of forced. Luckily I have a garden and the grim up north thing hasn't caught up since moving beyond the boundaries of London last March.

My company decided to make me redundant 2 weeks back, whilst making others Furlough and topping up the extra 20%.

So I am now looking for anything working from home related, if anyone knows of anyone/anything just to try and survive.

full time work with not even a sniff of a break in sight. Work for QVC in the US. They basically sent e-mails round saying that even Italy QVC during it's peak didn't shut down and that we're an essential service.

Bit of a fucking joke, but i guess i should be lucky when so many yanks have lost theirs!

Furloughed on 80% of full pay, topped up by company.

Loving it.

Plenty to do around the house and garden and screwfix and toolstation are keeping me well supplied.

Three weeks so far, hopefully a few more to come! No holiday to pay for so money is not exactly missed.

No doubt lockdown (which wasn't a lockdown anyway|) is now largely being ignored - some places even going against govt advice and opening. |Wait another month until the weather gets pretty warm.

My local town has banks, Wilko, Poundland, Holland and Barratt, local chippy, kebab shop, Superdrug, an electrical appliance shop and a market stall in a car park all open with people crowding around shopping.

Agree def getting busier round here especially today.

No doubt people are getting fed up being in but why they think it's ok to jeopardise other people is crazy

I think more people are starting to ignore the lockdown, though. For the last few days I've heard increasing amounts of road traffic and voices outside. Makes me wonder if those 'behavioural scientists' who apparently advised the Govt early on to not lock down too soon knew what they were on about. At the time the media (and few posters on here) howled about it. "What a load of rubbish - why is the Govt listening to 'behavioural' scientists?". And I admit I also thought 'is that even a thing?'. But now I think they may have been on to something. This time last week the streets round here were virtually silent and very few people were going out in their cars
today there is constant vehicle noise. People are becoming increasingly complacent.

I've mothballed my recruitment company for the time being and am taking the CJRS money to keep a roof over our heads. Still chatting with candidates and doing directory stuff, and if a client suddenly demands people then I'll spring back into action. This has taught me that my business isn't particularly resilient so I'm now looking at new things to do when normality returns. May go back to being an employee for the last twenty years of my working life and be able to leave all worries behind at 5.30 on a Friday again.

Working from home and absolutely loving it. Dreading everything going back to normal if I'm honest. Currently there's no commuting and no social interaction with pleasant-but-chatty-and-intrusive colleagues. My hastily arranged home office is quiet and has no bright, flickering light, no constant phones ringing, no weird smells and it's well ventilated. No-one goes through my STUFF, and my desk remains tidy between uses. No fucker readjusts the height of my chair after 'hot desking' (hot desking is torture, btw). I find no remains from colleagues' snacks in my work area or crumbs in the keyboard. No garlic-stinking colleagues breathing near me after they've eaten a pint of hummus for lunch. No possibility of overhearing banal conversation about Love Island or the latest social media OUTRAGE that sets my teeth on edge, contemplating how shallow and thick millennials are, even though these ones are highly qualified professionals. My home desktop computer works at warp speed compared to the gummed-up bastard PCs at work. I can see the birdies and squirrels that visit my garden as I work. I can just get the fuck on it.

ha, Coffers son... actually, you're part of the problem...I've had APAC dumped on me, and trying to sort out India is an extremely time consuming and largely worthless exercise. Honestly no idea how that place functions

Changes careers in November 2019. Several people at Old employer are now furloughed and worried re long term.

New career involves dealing with public so I'm in PPE most days as precautionary measure though none of colleagues have caught it yet. Definite job security though so it is a great move in hindsight.

Self employed gardener, landscaper/handy man. I didn't work for 3 weeks when lockdown was announced. Been back a couple of weeks now working 3 days a week.

Self employed and work has completely dried up. Not too much of a hardship and living on the edge of the countryside enables me to take advantage of it. I've also managed a few runs, which hasn't happened in a while.

Still on full pay, probably doing about 25% of the work when asked to go in. No chance of job loss or furlough
